Louisa Nyhus
Counselor - Violin
Louisa grew up in Waterville, Maine, and attended SMSC from 2010-2014. She began playing the violin at age nine, studying with Mary Jo Carlsen. In 2015, she won the Maine ASTA concerto competition and returned to perform at camp. After graduating from high school, Louisa spent a year teaching a small violin studio of 4th-7th graders. She also played in the Colby College Symphony Orchestra and served as concertmaster of the orchestra at the University of Maine at Farmington, in addition to playing in pit orchestras. In 2020, she graduated from Williams College, where she studied with Muneko Otani and Joana Genova and played in the Berkshire Symphony. On the side, she enjoyed playing regular fiddle gigs at the local farmers market. Louisa now works for Google in Sunnyvale, California (and plays in their in-house orchestra), and is excited to return to the east coast for camp.
When she's not playing music, Louisa can be found on the ultimate frisbee field, traveling, and (attempting to) learn as many languages as she can.
