Matt McGrath

Counselor - Bass

Matt McGrath is a performing bassist from Chicago. His main instruments are bass, vocals, and keys. He has played bass for the past 13 years, including playing for Bay Youth and Portland Youth Symphony Orchestras. In addition to classical music, he has also played a wide variety of genres. Alongside classical, his repertoire includes rock, jazz, bluegrass, choral, funk, and Latin music. He is currently writing, producing, and performing with his pop-funk band “Bread on Fork.” Alongside performing, Matt is currently the artist relations and box office manager of a music venue in Chicago.  In his spare time, you will find Matt cooking, kayaking, playing games, and critiquing bad movies.  

Matt was a SMSC camper for four years (2016-2019) before graduating high school, along with 3 years as a counselor. He holds fond memories of his tenure here and looks forward to being a counselor again this year.
