Counselor - Cello

Rae Stephenson began playing cello at age 8, studying under Alexander Badalov and later under Professor George Work at Iowa State University where she completed her minor in music performance. At ISU, Rae performed with the Iowa State Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, and Pit Orchestra. Prior to college she was a member of the Bay Youth Symphony Orchestra and New England Conservatory Preparatory School, as well as a five-year alum of Southern Maine String Camp. During graduate school, Rae continued to teach private lessons to beginner cello students and played for the Ithaca Community Orchestra while studying biomedical engineering at Cornell. Currently, Rae continues to play as a member of the Cambridge Symphony Orchestra. Her favorite pastimes are walking with her dog Dill and decorating the tank of her three geckos. Rae is extremely excited to be an SMSC counselor and is looking forward to swimming in Lake Cobbosseecontee again.
