Sophia Grassi

Counselor - Violin

Sophia began studying the violin at age three with her mother. She later studied with Jodi Hagen, longtime student of Roman Totenberg. She has also studied with Brianna Fischler of Palaver Strings and is currently a student of Jaroslaw Lis. Sophia has been a member of Mozart Mentors Orchestra since 2015 playing as both a violinist and violist. She is a three time winner of the Keith McClelland Scholarship and was a second place winner in three international competitions for performances of the Kabalevsky Concerto, Meditation from Thais and Beethoven Romance. She is currently attending Connecticut College and served as concertmaster for the college's orchestra tour to Japan in March 2025. This past June she was an intern for Lewis Kaplan’s Bach Virtuosi Festival. Currently Sophia is performing as a Young Artist at the Trentino Music Festival in Italy.
